Hello golfers,

Well after a few days away to La manga with a few members from the club I have come back to some miserable cold weather. 

The Golf was fun and had great company, big well done to Gavin Feaver who played out of his skin and is now convinced he should be a Golf professional after winning the event quite comfortably. A huge thanks to Simon Kilburn and David Kilburn for organising the trip it was superb guys.

Ashford junior open 

I would just like to thank Keith our secretary and my assistant Tom Muchmore for making the day a great success , they were here until 9pm making sure all the juniors had a great day and was very well organised.

Our very own Callum Smith had the best net score of our junior members with a net 68 and Leo Jones had a net 72 , well done guys. 

 

Hopefully you're all starting to enjoy a bit more golf now that we're into spring. In an effort to help you shoot lower scores, we'd like to share a few wedge play secrets. 

One of the biggest causes of loose ball striking is poor ball positioning. So… 

1. Check your ball is positioned correctly under your sternum (pictured below). 
2. Now, you need to stay balanced and avoid swaying with your backswing. Leaning back to help the ball up moves the bottom of your swing arc away from the ball. 
3. Once you're set-up correctly, it's about trusting the loft of your wedge to do its job. A good way to guarantee this is to take a divot after the ball, which should also help create spin for added control.
