How often should I change my irons? A question I get asked frequently and as much as I would like to say each season is the correct answer, the average across the country would be every five years. The reasons to back this up are the following: - After five years your equipment has got tired from being hit. - Lofts and lies have probably changed over this period. - The shafts would have got weak. - The grips have worn.
During this time you would have also changed, you are five years older, you may have experienced injuries and you may be playing more or less, ultimately, your circumstances have changed. Last but not least, your golf swing would have definitely changed, maybe for the better, maybe slower/quicker but enough to make a difference. Technology over five years has changed enough for you to see the difference, new clubs will be stronger and they will certainly fit your newer swing/swing speed.
