Now with the winter closing in, we have wide range of winter products on display around the shop ranging from the smallest of items such as hand warmers, yellow golf balls and much more. We have Ashford logo umbrellas, wind protected lined quarter zip jumpers from PING and also club crested jumpers which are ideal in the cold weather. We also have a wide range waterproof garments such as Sunderland and FootJoy jackets and trousers along with wind proof half sleeve tops for those showery days.

Something that we have brought to the shop during October is the new FootJoy Winter boot which is available for both men and ladies in black or brown colours with the following benefits and features: Full grain leather uppers offer outstanding waterproof comfort, breathability, and durability the Proof-Guard membrane provides total waterproof protection. FootJoy warrants that this golf shoe will be waterproof in normal use for one year. Durability and additional touch for feel and comfort, the EVA (ethyl vinyl acetate) Fit-Beds provide lightweight cushioning underfoot. New and Upcoming brands

I have met with quite a few new reps from different companies over the last month or so and have put together some ideas and have decided to bring a new and very positive brand to the Professional shop. We have introduced a full and vibrant Brand Green Lamb to the shop which has been in for over month now and has been very popular so feel free to pop in and have a look.

Ashford Pro Am 2014 massive success

On Friday 17th October we held the Ashford Pro Am which was a great success and a thoroughly enjoyable day. The week leading up to the event was hit by some pretty awful weather and very heavy bouts of rain. On the Monday at the beginning of the week, the course was closed as it was too wet to be played and with extra rain on the Wednesday and Thursday evening the green keepers did a truly amazing job to get the course in the great condition it was in on the day. We had 22 teams enter the Pro Am which consisted of 66 amateurs and 22 professionals which was a great turn out. The prize presentation was conducted by the PGA Organiser on the day, our 2014 Club Captain Graham Hunneman and myself the Head Professional.

The course was playing very long with the tees pushed back and the pins in some tricky positions which made scoring hard on the day. The Overall Professional prizes were as follows with the Pro Am winner going to Benn Barham with a great score of -3 68 2nd place went to Tom Muchmore with a very solid round of -1 70 and 3rd place wen to Kyle Kelsall with -1 70.

The Team prizes combined of the best 2 scores from the 4 players and the winners were as follows:

1st Place Professional Steve Green , S Biden, J Wood, M Penfold -18 124 
2nd Place Professional Kyle Kelsall, -17 125 
3rd Place Professional Benn Barham, J Owen, C Gardner, M Owen -15 127

Re Grip offers

You often ask yourself the following question, HOW OFTEN SHOULD I GET MY CLUBS REGRIPPED ?

As a rule of thumb, you should re-grip once every year or every 40 rounds. Regardless of how often you play, ozone, heat, dirt and oils are constantly at work breaking down the materials that make up your grips. Granted, frequent play and personal preference may dictate re-gripping sooner, but with normal use there's enough degradation of the material after a year to warrant fresh grips. Keep in mind that grips lose a significant amount of their original feel long before they become hard and slick. Because it happens slowly over time, most golfers fail to notice it. That's important to remember because just a tiny, imperceptible slip at contact will be magnified to many yards by the time the ball reaches its target. Many people find that getting in the routine of re-gripping every Spring as the golf season "officially" begins is the easiest way to remember.

Seniors Coaching

The seniors clinics are going well so remember to put your names down on the sign up sheet on the seniors notice board, the classes run weekly from 10.00am - 11.00am every Thursday.

We have added an extra Ladies coaching class which will be the same set up as his regular Tuesday sessions and will now also be available on Thursdays from 1.30pm -2.30pm for any ladies that cannot make the Tuesday classes.
